Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI v MOSELEY on Sat 06 Aug 2011 at 12.30
Leamington Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets
Match report
Two very well matched sides contested a good game, the difference between the 2 sides ultimately proved to be the Moseley spinner and Leamingtons poor fielding.
Batting first on a pacy wicket, Leamington lost Mark Best for a duck, however, Richard Swann (76) and Dave Hawkes (48) put on 112 for the second wicket and although Swann departed, Simon Magill (36) put on another 57 with the veteren Hawkes to leave Leamington on a healthy 170-2 with 9 overs left. But both got out and the total limped to a disappointing 229-7.
The Moseley reply began steadily, but Leamington kept themselves in the game by taking wickets, and the drinks interval came with Moseley on 102-4. At this crucial time, Leamington let Moseley get away with some very slipshod fielding. Victory came in the 45th over without a further wicket taken. Pick of the bowlers was Jack Hawkes(3-50)
