Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI v Harborne on Sat 03 Aug 2013 at 12.30pm
Leamington Cricket Club Lost by 135 Runs
Match report
Another below-par performance from Leamington’s 2nd XI has seen them drawn into a possible relegation fight, following a comprehensive defeat at home to Harborne.
The visitors batted first and amassed 274 – 6 on a lovely batting strip. The majority of batsmen made a contribution, led by opener Rob Powell with 57, and a quick-fire, undefeated 55, from Baldev Raj. Jason Butler claimed three wickets, with two for Tom Davison, but no Leamington bowler was able to dominate proceedings for long.
Leamington lost two early wickets in response, and never recovered. Jack Bewick compiled a patient 38, but no other batsmen made a telling contribution, a regular failing this season. Harborne, led by John Dyer with 4 wickets, bowled well, but Leamington failed to show enough fight with the bat. They were dismissed for a paltry 139 on a blameless wicket. The Arlington Avenue side need to regroup for the final half-dozen fixtures, to maintain their Premier Division status for next season.
