Kenilworth Wardens v Leamington Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 11 May 2014 at 12.00
Leamington Cricket Club Lost by 71 Runs
Match report
Leamington bowed out of the ECB National Club Championship losing at neighbours Kenilworth Wardens.
Wardens batted first and posted a useful total on a slow pitch and damp outfield. They were in some trouble at 78 - 4, but former Spa man Udit Talati joined Sunjay Sharma in a match-winning partnership of 85. Talati made 48, whilst Sharma compiled 57, as Wardens closed on 212 - 8 in 45 overs. Two wickets for Faisal Khalid, and singles for Grant Thornton, Tom Warner, Neil Smith and Paul Lawrence, along with a generous supply of extras!
Leamington never got going in response, with only Lee Hopkins gaining the upper hand. He made 60, continuing his fine early season form, but failed to find a partner who could give much-needed support. A late flurry from the tail saw Leamington finish all out for 141. For Wardens the miserly Alistair Wilkinson took 4 - 18 well supported by Mark Pidgeon's 2 - 18. Talati completed a fine match with 3 wickets, albeit expensivly earned!
